In the images uploaded to m.desgin34, several well-known actresses are transformed into the Fantastic Four character through the magic of Photoshop. First, there’s actress Anya Taylor-Joy, who is best known for her recent work on the Netflix limited series The Queen’s Gambit, as well as 2021’s Last Night In Soho. Joy is known for playing highly intelligent and stoic characters, which would make her a good fit for the science-based superhero team. Next, there’s English actress Ella Balinska, who recently starred in the 2019 Charlie’s Angels reboot. While Sue Storm is often portrayed as a white blonde woman in the comics, many fans have pushed for a more multi-racial and diverse Fantastic Four. The 2015 film adaptation of The Fantastic Four applied a similar switch, with Black Panther actor Michael B. Jordan portraying Sue’s brother Johnny Storm opposite Kate Mara as his adopted sister. While there was some fan pushback towards Jordan’s casting (as there always is), many fans have pointed out that neither character’s skin color is really all that important to their character, thus giving filmmaker’s the opportunity to cast color-blind.

Also included is Harley Quinn actress Margot Robbie, whose portrayal of the clown princess of crime has made her very popular among comic book fans. Robbie has starred as Harley Quinn in three different DCEU films, including both the 2016 David Ayer version of Suicide Squad and the more recent 2021 James Gunn-directed sequel The Suicide Squad. She also received her own movie titled Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey, where she further shined as the fan-favorite character. Robbie is another pretty clear choice for Sue Storm, as she’s naturally blonde and very popular among comic book fans. Then there’s Freema Agyeman, who is best known for her portrayal of Martha Jones on the long-running BBC series Doctor Who. This has also made her very popular with a lot of sci-fi fans, so adding her to the MCU would be a good call. She’s also known for her roles on Law and Order, as well as Netflix’s series Sense8.

Lastly, there’s Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence and actress Minka Kelly. Lawrence has long been a fan favorite to portray Sue Storm in the MCU, and she’s been rumored to be considered for the role sometime now. Lawrence already has some experience as a Marvel character in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men movies, where she played shape-shifting mutant Mystique. Kelly might seem like an odder choice to some, but she’s recently become quite successful on HBO’s Euphoria and on HBO Max series Titans, where she plays superhero Dawn Granger, who just so happens to have strikingly blonde hair.

As a founding member of The Fantastic Four, Sue Storm has the privilege of being a part of Marvel’s “first family.” In the comics, The Fantastic Four is easily one of the most important superhero teams in the Marvel universe. While Marvel Studios has yet to premiere The Fantastic Four in the MCU, now that Disney has bought 20th Century fox, who previously owned the film rights to these characters, it’s only a matter of time until they are integrated along with other previous Fox properties like the X-Men. Fox did put out several Fantastic Four movies, but none of them did very well. The 2015 adaptation had an especially negative reception, and nearly destroyed the career of its director Josh Trank, who later expressed a lot of disdain for the studio’s meddling.

No one is confirmed for the role of Sue Storm yet, but all of these actresses are certainly good contenders. With the multiverse being opening up in the MCU, who knows, maybe they’ll all get cast at some point.

Fantastic Four is in development at Marvel Studios.
