Being behind makes it nearly impossible to make up the ground. Important NPCs will continue to ask for items that the player can’t make. Romance options can’t be selected. Arthur’s side can lose the war. With just a few pieces of advice, beginners can be ahead of the curve in Anvil Saga from start to finish.
Restart The Game Until The First Choices Succeed
There can be no judgment for how players decide to make their initial choices. Romancing Olivia and helping the French or English are all up to personal discretion. But each of these choices has a probability of failure. Don’t tolerate starting the game on a losing note.
These results have ramifications far down the road. Though players can’t save the game in between these choices, restarting the game at this point is highly recommended. Start over until the preferred choices succeed,r regardless of the odds.
Pick A Side Immediately
Hand-in-hand with the initial choices are the three factions in the war. The French, English, and Bandits all have generally good and bad folks on their side. Ultimately, players will get to select the faction they favor the most. Make this choice early.
Trying to balance the three sides is nearly impossible. Helping one side might yield five points and take ten or twenty points away from the other factions. Don’t make every happy. Pick a side and stick with that conviction.
Select A Worker From The Favored Side
The initial selection of assistants seems to make it sound like role-playing and personality are core components of the characters. These helpers remain silent for the rest of the game, so ignore these flavor descriptions completely.
Instead, pick a worker that shares the player’s faction. If not, this employee will take off later, leaving the player missing all of the cash and experience invested in them.
Refuse Orders From Opponents
Pay attention to the borders when customers make their orders. The French have red borders, the English have blue borders, and Bandits will be represented in blacks and greys. Neutral colors can be served without any potential confrontations.

Serving foes has two large consequences. First, if an ally sees the sale occur, they’ll cancel their order and the player will lose standing with their preferred faction. Second, these weapons will determine the winner of the war. More sales to the enemies mean a closer fight or even a losing one.
Make Fame A Priority After The First Employee
Getting fame as high as possible is more than just an exercise in ego. Until he achieves a certain level of fame, Arthur won’t have access to better technology. Gamers might think that’s alright for now, but they’ll end up paying a steep price for this.
Some plot points require making weapons. To do so, they’ll need to have a certain fame level. If this order can’t get made, the request automatically fails. Once again, this can cost Arthur romance or cause his side to lose the war.
Upgrade The Stall Before Hiring A Second Employee
Due to how early special requests can occur, upgrading the stall needs to take priority over many other pleasant activities. Of course it would be nice to expand across the map and hire a dozen employees to get the business going, but there isn’t enough time to make this early investment.
That’s not to say this investment can’t ever occur. After getting the first stall upgrade, players will be in the clear for a while. Go ahead and start earnestly hiring, mining, and forging. But until this upgrade occurs, put other plans on hold.
Don’t Fight Through Sleep Or Hunger
If any character starts to keep sleepy or hungry, they’ll start to make severe mistakes. When mining, they’ll often fail to come up with anything at all. On the forge, they can lose ore to the flame. With the anvil, they’ll break equipment and need to start over.
Go to sleep immediately. Close up shop if no other employee can take over, it’s better to start fresh and make flawless orders than these mistakes. They may seem like just a few lost units or seconds here and there, but they add up in the long run.
Sleep And Eat In Shifts
To keep coins flowing, it’s best to take turns, even if there are only two employees left to do everything. Having everyone asleep or eating at once is undoubtedly easier on the mind of the gamer, yet consider all the orders that will go unmade during this time.

Take turns on the forge and in the mine. Somebody should be making some meaningful progress at all times. Don’t be afraid to get all employees practice with mining, forging, and smelting, so they can stand in any position at any time.
Switch Equipment Depending On The Task
One of the most overlooked parts of the game is the employee’s equipment. Some gear is built for mining, others are built for smelting and forging. Since early employees will naturally be doing a bit of everything, switch their gear when they switch positions.
Most equipment pieces carry penalties when used on a certain task. The first thing to do when rotating a worker from one job to another should be to select the ideal gear for the job.
Assign Employees To Appropriate Tasks
Each character, including Arthur, will develop a set of traits that will define how well or poorly they do certain activities. In the short term, this won’t matter so much because the handful of workers will need to rotate on every task.
At the midgame, players will have their choice of who mines, smelts, and forges. Take a look at their attributes and put them in a position where they excel at. Practice is fine for low scores, but sometimes a personality trait forces them into a specialist role.
