[UPDATE 2: EA has resolved the issues with the PC and PS4 version but the Xbox One fixes are still ongoing:

“The main issue impacting the Anthem VIP demo on PC and PS4 has been resolved. Anyone who has had an issue on those platforms should restart the game and attempt to join again. Our team is still working on fixes for some of the issues we’re seeing on Xbox One.”]

Anthem’s VIP demo launched today, and so far not many players have actually been able to play. It seems that the servers for the game are already at max capacity, despite the demo only being live for a couple hours. Originally, the VIP demo was designed to be for those who pre-ordered the game, but with players being able to give out extra codes to the demo, the number of players that could play the demo effectively tripled. While EA is currently working on adding to the max capacity, there is no word on when this process will be finished.

The Anthem VIP demo starts today and runs through January 27, and will feature a wide array of content for players to try out–that is, as soon as they are able to log in. Players will be able to take on some story missions, free roam, and even a stronghold–the latter of which is designed to be high-level content. While players will only be able to gain a few levels during the demo, the VIP demo progress will carry over to the public demo which starts in February.

Anthem is one of this year’s most anticipated games, so it’s no wonder that so many people are itching to try it out before launch. However, after the VIP demo’s rocky launch, many fans are worried about the servers for when the full game goes live. While there are some differences between the demo and the final game, that does not reassure some fans. Some players on social media are already calling for an extension to the VIP demo’s window as an apology for the rough start. While EA has made no comment on this, many fans are hoping that something will be done if the server load does not improve.

While many fans are very excited to try out this demo, some may have to wait a little bit longer before getting to fly around in their Javelins. Hopefully this setback will help EA gauge how strong the severs will need to be for the upcoming public demo, and eventually for launch later in February.

Anthem launches February 22 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
