When it comes to Anthem’s Alliance system, Irving explains that anytime a player completes an expedition–be it a Mission, Contract, Freeplay endeavor, or Stronghold–they will earn experience that goes into the Alliance System. What’s more is that the XP from other people with whom one plays will also go into the Alliance System, along with the XP from players on their friends list who play without them.

Furthermore,  Anthem players will be awarded the in-game currency dubbed Coin based on the XP contributed to the Alliance System at the end of each week. According to Irving, there are going to be several tiers to reach and a weekly cap that can be hit.

As far as Anthem’s Guilds are concerned, Irving states that while they won’t be available at launch, the development team is aiming to design this clan-like feature so as to facilitate a way for players to “form organized groups with people of similar interests and play styles”. Unfortunately, though, the BioWare Lead Producer didn’t provide explicit details as to how that will be the case. Nevertheless, he did say that the studio intends to release the feature “as soon after launch as [it] can”.

Taking everything here into consideration, the way in which Guilds and the Alliance System are going to operate further cements BioWare’s view of how Anthem will be best enjoyed by fans, and that’s by fully embracing its multiplayer-driven gameplay. Of course, it must be mentioned that the studio has made it so the game can be played solo, too, but BioWare has also gone on record to say that the single-player likely won’t be as rewarding.

Anthem is scheduled to launch on February 22, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
