Sony has confirmed that the highest PS Plus tier will include over 700 games at launch, and a number of those titles have already been revealed. These include some of the platforms’ most successful titles like Demon’s Souls, Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut, and Returnal for the PS5; Final Fantasy 15: Royal Edition and Far Cry 3 Remastered for PS4; and the Devil May Cry HD Collection for PS3. Though the PS2 games that will be available through the service are still unclear, some PS1 and PSP titles have also already been announced.

A few PS1 and PSP games have been confirmed for PS Plus Premium, including Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, Syphon Filter, Ape Escape, and Tekken 2. That hasn’t prevented fans from keeping an eye out for any hint about what the other retro PlayStation games might be, and a recent rating in South Korea suggests that Resistance: Retribution may be joining the PSP lineup of titles available through PS Plus Premium. The listing specifically categorizes the game as being for the PS4 and PS5. Considering that Resistance: Retribution only ever launched as a PSP title, for many people, the new rating description can only mean one thing.

For some gamers, Insomniac’s Resistance series of sci-fi first-person shooters is one of the best to come out of the seventh console generation. So it was disappointing to learn that a pitch for the long-awaited Resistance 4 was rejected by Sony because there were too many post-apocalyptic games, like The Last of Us and Days Gone, in development at the same time. In 2018, Insomniac Community Director James Stevenson said that a new Resistance game ever being made “[felt] like a longshot.”

So it may appease some fans of the franchise that, at least so far, Resistance 3 is confirmed to be coming to PS Plus Premium and, if rumors are to be believed, Resistance: Retribution may be joining the lineup as well. Hopefully, Sony plans to make the entire series available eventually through the subscription service.

Resistance: Retribution broke from the established first-person POV of the franchise and is presented from a third-person perspective. Developed by Bend Studio and released for PlayStation Portable in 2009, the game is set between the events of the first and second entries. It introduces a new protagonist, Lieutenant James Grayson, who sets out on a personal vendetta against the Chimera after his brother becomes infected by the invading alien race and dies.

Resistance: Retribution is currently available on PlayStation Portable.
