For those that might not be as up to date on their Mega Man info, Protoman is an early prototype of Mega Man who is, in many respects, identical to Mega Man. Possessing many of the same abilities and weapons it’s only Protoman’s costume that is the biggest difference.
But getting to wear the red and yellow of Protoman isn’t going to be easy, in fact it requires quite a bit of dedication to Dead Rising 2: Off the Record. This isn’t simply picking up a few items strewn across Fortune City, this Easter Egg requires completing the game, and scoring the “S” ending. On top of that players must medal in all 30 challenges and either save Jack and play poker with him, or beat him in the Sandbox mode. Needless to say, this Protoman costume must earned.

Released earlier this week, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record was the game that Dead Rising 2 should have been. Sure, getting to experience new protagonist Chuck’s struggles as he tries to keep his daughter from becoming zombified was compelling it just felt like too much of a leap for fans of Frank West. On top of that it was a confusing move on Capcom’s part who now seem to be invested in West as a representative of their brand.
But, I guess, all is well since gamers get new missions, cutscenes, environments, and a new Mega Man Easter Egg.
Have you unlocked any or all of the Protoman costume in Dead Rising 2: Off the Record? What are some of your other favorite Easter Eggs contained within the Dead Rising series?
Dead Rising 2: Off the Record is available now for PS3 and Xbox 360 and releases October 25, 2011 for the PC.
